The Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) Annual Conference: 12-14 May
The Centre for Humanities Research and its Maxeke-Robinson Research Chair are delighted to partner with and host portions of the Global Brain Health Institute’s (GBHI) Annual Conference in Cape Town.
The Global Brain Health Institute is dedicated to protecting the brain health of the world’s populations through research, capacity building, advocacy and the training and support of Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health. Atlantic Fellows are rising inter-professional leaders – neuroscientists, artists, writers, epidemiologists, geriatricians, musicians, psychologists, physicians and social activists – with the values, skills, passion, and determination to inspire positive change and protect the world’s populations from threats to brain health. The GBHI will be joined by the CHR house artists, Ukwanda Puppets and Design Art Collective, who will be offering a puppetry performance (pictured above) as part of the conference’s Walk and Talk session on 12 May, and the CHR who will be participating in a one-day workshop and panel discussion on holistic health at the Iyatsiba Lab.
“We’re delighted and excited to partner with the Centre for Humanities Research at the University of Western Cape and learn about their innovative approaches to address inequities, exemplified by the puppetry of the Ukwanda Art Collective. Arts, creativity and interdisciplinary practices are at the heart of how GBHI approaches our mission to protect brain health and change the narrative around dementia globally. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn from the magic of Ukwanda and to strengthen the connections between Trinity College Dublin and UWC”
