The CHR, in collaboration with the Ruth J. Simmons Center for the Study of Slavery & Justice at Brown University, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, and Iziko Museums of South Africawill be hosting in Slavery’s Wake: making Black Freedom in the World, on 27 May 2026.
This event is scheduled to take place at the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art on March 13, 2024, as part of the Embassy’s St. Patrick’s Day programme.
We are pleased to announce the publication of Kronos: Southern African Histories under the theme of Oral/Aural: Pastness and Sound as Medium and Method, edited by Dr Valmont Layne, CHR, and Dr Aidan Erasmus, Department of Historical Studies, UWC.
