‘Prepared on the occasion of the exhibition William Kentridge: That Which is Not Remembered at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, September2018 – February 2019 and at the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide, Australia, March 2019- June 2019.’
The book, which is richly illustrated in full colour, presents a series of conversations between artist William Kentridge and scholar Jane Taylor, and it explores Kentridge’s visual archive and the ways in which both remembering and forgetting are activities within the agency of memory. The book considers how Kentridge’s works impel the ongoing deliberations internal to his own creative and imaginative world, while paying attention to the external prompts from the temporal and geo-political, as well as aesthetic spheres, that inform Kentridge’s creative output.
