Global Africa: African and African Diaspora Studies in the 21st Century

Professor Premesh Lalu attended and presented a paper titled ‘Race and Its Uncanny Returns: Building a Humanities Centre in a University of Aparthied’ at the Africa Institute’s international conference. The conference, organised under the theme ‘Global Africa: African and African Diaspora Studies in the 21st Century’, drew together scholars such as Mamadou Diouf (Columbia University), Awam Amp (New York University), Susan Buck-Morss (Cornell University and Graduate Centre) and many others to ‘assess the current state of African and African Diaspora studies and interrogate new theoretical approaches through a range of interdisciplinary approaches.’
