The Centre for Humanities Research, in partnership with the Mzansi National Phillharmonic Orchestra, invite you to a preview screening of a concert film of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. This concert was performed by the Mzansi National Phillharmonic Orchestra along with the Silvertown New Apostolic Church Choir and Tshwane University Choir of Technology Choir, under renowned conductor Marin Alsop in December 2022. The film is directed by CHR documentary film programme convenor Francois Verster. Orchestra and choir members will be in attendance.

“This concert film of the Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestra performing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony under the baton of Marin Alsop as part our inaugural national tour has been a highlight in our young history, and an event that has set the tone for many of the significant concerts and events that have followed. The concert highlighted the power of music to bring people together in a unique way, and part of our aim in creating it was to preserve an element the esprit de corps that now embodies our tours and performances so beautifully. As an organisation that is gaining acclaim as South Africa’s beloved national orchestra, we’re thrilled to be able to relive the occasion with our Mzansi Philharmonic family as part of our 2024 National Tour.”
