Llewellin’s Masters is focused on cultural/music biography and legacy-making in post-apartheid South Africa using Zayn Adam, an iconic music star of the Western Cape in the 70s and 80s, as the lens through which he addresses the pop/fusion music history of that era and the manner in which artists, performing under the constraints imposed by apartheid, had to develop a fluidity to their music in order to remain relevant and viable as artists. His research area thus touches on music history and cultural heritage on a broader scale and is a literary contribution to an area where many artists, more specifically artists from Cape Town, remain unheralded in any written form.
