Adam Sitze

Associate Professor

A MacArthur Scholar from 1996 to 2003 at the University of Minnesota, Adam Sitze is currently Associate Professor of Law, Jurisprudence and Social Thought at Amherst College, USA. He was an A.W. Mellon Visiting Scholar at the CHR in August 2014. Sitze led a reading group with Programme on the Study of the Humanities in Africa (PSHA) fellows and faculty on his groundbreaking book on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, entitled The Impossible Machine: A Genealogy of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission (University of Michigan Press, 2013). Professor Sitze also presented a seminar on his paper, “Between Study and Revolt: Further notes on emergency continued” (12 August 2014). During his visit to the CHR, he held individual consultations with postgraduate students and fellows on their research, and discussions with CHR faculty on future research and publication projects.
