Challenges of Translation: CHCI Global Humanities Institute Santiago 2019
As part of an ongoing research collaboration, colleagues from the CHR will be joining other partner institutions for the 2019 CHCI Global Humanities Institute on the ‘Challenges of Translation’. This year’s programme, framed by the title ‘Theoretical Issues, Practical Densities: Violence, Memory, and the Untranslatable’, continues the intention to ‘discuss and develop strategies of research, practice, and academic exchange articulated on the basis of a multidimensional concept of translation with poetic and speculative implications’.
Held at Centro Interdisciplinario de Estudios en Filosofía, Artes y Humanidades (CIEFAH, Universidad de Chile), the Global Humanities Institute on ‘Challenges of Translation is constituted by four centres, including Humanities Commons (UCI Commons, University of California Irvine), the Centre for Humanities Research (CHR, University of Western Cape), and Oxford Comparative Criticism and Translation at The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (OCCT-TORCH, Oxford University).
Premesh Lalu, Maurits Van Bever Donker, Nicky Rousseau, and Heidi Grunebaum from the CHR will be participating and presenting in a number of sessions.
