Ziyaad Rahman, 25, is a Masters History Student at the University of the Western Cape. He holds a CHR Visual History and Theory flagship scholarship, and has a seat with the Forensic History Reading Group. His work involves working with historical theory and memory development around forensic visual material. He has trained with Francois Verster in a short Documentary Film course, is on an internship with South Africa History Online and tutors undergraduate history students.
He is an inspiring film maker, comic book producer and director with unique interest in story through animation.
During the making of Interview with Aunty Anthia, he subsequently began work on the first issue of the comic serial Siri Watu: Descendants of Africa, with long-time friend Duvan Botha. The serial is based off of an animated series of the same name being produced by young animation company, Awali Studios.
